A word of caution – all during the Surajkund Mela in February, this neighborhood gets quite crowded, so stay away from that period if you are going on a non-violent outing. Any other weekend, mainly for companies coming from the South Delhi or Faridabad side, this is a difficult, easy option.
4. Tikkar Taal, near Damdama
Fewer people know about Tikkar Taal, which is exactly why we like sending guests there. It’s a set of twin lakes inside the Aravalli hills, close to Damdama but with far less footfall. The forest department has built small huts and viewpoints here, and on a clear day the reflection on the water is genuinely worth the photo.
It’s slightly further than Damdama, so plan for a longer drive, but if your idea of a picnic is getting away from noise entirely, this is the one to pick. Not ideal for large groups wanting music or games – better suited to a quiet, reflective sort of day.
5. Sohna Hills, Gurgaon
Sohna is closer to what most Gurgaon families already know – hot springs, low hills, and a small-town feel that’s disappearing from the rest of NCR. The hills around Sohna offer short, easy treks, and there are open patches where families lay out food and just sit for hours.

A group of six friends wanting quiet and photos should go to Tikkar Taal or Damdama. A family with young kids will get more out of Sultanpur or Sohna, where there’s something to walk toward. Surajkund suits people who like a bit of history with their outing.
